Cancelling contracts and subscriptions in Switzerland: preparation

Whether after a move, a death or a change of provider, cancelling takes more than deciding to end a contract. Check your specific contract and the provider’s requirements first.

Contract holder, notice and end date

Record the contract number, holder, minimum term, notice period and desired end date. If acting for someone else, clarify your authority too. Different contracts can have different conditions.

Choose an accepted channel

Check whether the provider specifies a portal, phone call, form or letter and which requirements apply. The Swisscom help page below illustrates provider-specific rules; those conditions do not apply to every company.

Confirm receipt and the contract end

Keep your statement and suitable evidence of transmission. Check the reply for the actual end date and further tasks such as returning a device. A reminder alone does not send a cancellation.

Prepare your request

  1. Read the contract and current cancellation conditions.
  2. Record the desired end date and contract number.
  3. Choose an accepted delivery channel and required evidence.
  4. Check confirmation, end date and remaining obligations.

How Connect PD helps

Connect PD helps prepare cancellation requests and organise the associated details. The workflow shows available delivery options. If a letter is needed, you arrange printing, postage and posting yourself.

Connect PD does not provide its own printing or postal service and does not guarantee acceptance of a cancellation or a particular contract end date.

Frequently asked questions

Is everything complete once I create a cancellation?

No. Check the channel, actual delivery and recipient’s confirmation. A draft is not a sent cancellation.

Can I take over a contract after a death?

Ask the provider whether transfer is possible and which evidence is required. Reporting a death, transferring and cancelling are different requests.
