A new chapter. Organised together.
Marriage in Switzerland: organise changes and documents
Marriage begins a new chapter. What changes depends on your situation: perhaps your name, address or how you organise documents. This guide covers notifying companies, separately from the official civil marriage process.

Separate official procedures and personal changes
Clarify the marriage, official name and required documents with the civil register office. Then list the details that actually change. Getting married does not always involve a name change or moving home.
Identify the relevant recipients
Review your employer, banks, insurers, landlord and other providers. Note the details and evidence each requires. Use the relevant guide for a new name or address.
Organise shared documents deliberately
File contracts, confirmations and important dates. Agree which documents should be shared and who may act on each matter. A shared household or family profile does not replace a required power of attorney.
Marriage in Switzerland: organise changes and documents
Connect PD does not perform marriages, change civil registers or issue official identity documents. It does not provide a marriage application or marriage certificate service.

Frequently asked questions
Must I change my name everywhere after getting married?
Your officially established name is what matters. If it stays the same, marriage alone does not require a name-change notification. Check other required details with the relevant organisations.
What should I prepare?
The relevant customer or contract numbers, new details and only the evidence each recipient requests. Contact the civil register office for official documents.
Are our shared contracts updated automatically?
No. Clarify account holders, required consent and requested changes with each provider. Keep their confirmation.
Can I notify any company through Connect PD?
Check the portal for support for your chosen recipient and request. A directory entry does not prove a partnership or automatic processing. If no suitable channel is available, contact the company directly.
What does it cost?
Connect PD is free for private individuals. Any third-party charges, such as official documents or postal services, are separate and should be checked with the relevant provider.
When is my request complete?
Preparing or sending a notification does not mean the recipient has made the change. Check replies, outstanding evidence and the company’s confirmation. If no reply arrives, follow up directly.
