Data access, correction and deletion in Switzerland

Would you like to know what data a company processes about you, correct inaccurate details or request deletion? State the outcome clearly and address the responsible organisation.

Choose the appropriate request

Access concerns the data processed and how it is used. Correction concerns inaccurate details. A deletion request asks for a review of whether data must be removed. These are distinct aims; explain yours.

Proportionate identification

Provide enough detail for the company to identify your records. It must verify your identity appropriately. Send sensitive evidence through a suitable channel and limit it to what is required.

Track the response and reasons

Document receipt, follow-up questions and the response. Complete deletion is not always possible, for example where retention obligations apply. The FDPIC guidance explains rights, procedures and possible restrictions.

Prepare your request

  1. Identify the responsible company and your precise objective.
  2. Specify the relevant customer account and scope.
  3. Clarify identification requirements and a safe response channel.
  4. Check the response for completeness and explained restrictions.

How Connect PD helps

Connect PD includes an area for data protection requests. It supports structured preparation and tracking of the requests available in the portal. The company processing the data remains responsible for answering.

Submitting a request does not immediately delete all data. Connect PD does not decide legal disputes or replace the competent data protection or advisory body.

Frequently asked questions

Does a request also end my contract?

A data protection request and cancellation are separate procedures. Clarify both separately with the company.

Does a request to another company delete my Connect PD account?

No. Managing your Connect PD account and requesting action from another controller are separate processes.
